BRAVO was honored to support and attend the first Police Athletic League Business Luncheon of the fall season. The guest speaker was New York City Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch, who shared insights on public safety, community quality of life, and the NYPD’s priorities for the year ahead.
In his introduction, former Governor David Paterson, a member of the BRAVO Group Board of Advisors, emphasized the importance of safety in creating opportunities for New Yorkers and strengthening the city’s future. He encouraged continued collaboration across the city to expand “who we are, what we are, and what we can be.”
Commissioner Tisch reflected on a particularly active summer in New York City, marked by the NBA Finals, the FIFA Club World Cup, Sail250, street fairs, parades, and countless other events. Despite the activity, she noted that the summer saw declines in shootings, major crime, and retail theft. She attributed this progress to data-driven policing, long-term investigations, the dedication of NYPD personnel, and continued investment in the department.
Looking ahead, the Commissioner highlighted the importance of recruiting, preparing, leading, and training the next generation of officers, including more focused and immersive training. She also discussed the NYPD’s Quality of Life Division, established in April 2025 to address everyday neighborhood concerns and non-emergency 311 and 911 complaints.
Commissioner Tisch closed with a simple message: She’s just getting started.
