The NYC School of Construction Advanced Mentor Training Program (AMTP) was a collaborative initiative between the NYCSCA Business Development Division, Bradford, and CUNY’s Borough of Manhattan Community College Center for Continuing Education and Workforce Development. The program was designed to advance small M/WBE/LBE contractor firms by strengthening both their technical and business capacities to work effectively with the NYCSCA and other government agencies.
Through a series of specialized workshops led by Subject Matter Experts, participants gained practical knowledge on navigating NYCSCA standards and requirements, while exploring best practices for business growth, marketing, and competitive positioning in New York’s construction industry. Graduates of the program are equipped to bid on and win NYCSCA construction projects valued up to $1 million.
The program combined in-class training at CUNY’s Borough of Manhattan Community College with an online AMTP platform developed by Bradford. Core curriculum topics included Financial Management, Construction Legal Principles and Processes, Construction Scheduling and Project Management, Safety Management, Organizational Development and Leadership, Construction Cost Estimating, Project Labor Agreements, and Public Policy. The program successfully continued through COVID-19 via Bradford’s e-learning platform, ensuring uninterrupted access to critical training from 2019 to 2020.
