The new 10-story, 100,000 SF academic building at the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) in Chelsea, Manhattan, is a state-of-the-art educational facility designed to foster innovation in design and business. Designed by SHoP Architects, the building serves as a campus landmark, with a striking glass façade that visually connects the college to the surrounding community. Engineered to LEED Gold standards, the facility enhances the academic experience and supports FIT’s commitment to sustainability and modern learning environments.

Bradford played a key role in managing multiple aspects of the construction process, providing construction management services to the Dormitory Authority of the State of New York as a subconsultant to Legacy Joint Venture (AECOM and Hill International). Our responsibilities included reviewing all submittals for compliance with project specifications, verifying shop drawings and operation and maintenance manuals, and conducting site inspections prior to architectural construction activities.

Throughout construction, Bradford actively monitored work to ensure adherence to design drawings, specifications, and industry standards. Materials delivered to the site were inspected for compliance with approved shop drawings and contract requirements. To maintain quality, the team prepared punch lists, monitored testing and commissioning, and assisted with project handover, ensuring a high-quality, fully operational facility ready for FIT’s academic programs.
