Velocity provided design services for the installation of Passenger ID (PID) CCTV cameras at 106 NYC subway stations, encompassing 188 new fare control arrays and a total construction area of approximately 2.2 million square feet.
Each station required detailed site surveys to produce accurate plans in MicroStation. Velocity developed Electrical, Architectural, and Structural designs for the PID arrays, mounting systems, and associated power and control infrastructure. All documentation underwent a rigorous Quality Control review to ensure compliance with MTA procedural guidelines, New York City regulations, and applicable building and technical codes.
The project was divided into 14 separate design packages, each following independent document submission schedules for Preliminary, Advanced, Final, and Construction sets. The concurrent execution of these packages on a staggered schedule presented significant coordination challenges. Through strategic scheduling and disciplined document management, Velocity successfully compressed a design program originally intended for 280 weeks into an accelerated 90-week schedule.
